The techniques used

* Soft tissue release

* Muscle energy technique

* Neuromuscular technique

* Connective tissue manipulation/ myofascial release (manipulation)

All involve deep tissue work, enabling active stretching of the targeted muscle tissue/muscle groups, in a way that may not be possible with the functional exercise. This then helps to cover the management, manipulation and rehabilitation of the body’s soft tissue, muscles, ligaments and tendons, whether the injury was sustained through direct or indirect trauma.

Musculo – skeletal injury is a very common problem. As health care professionals we have found through our experiences that approximately 1 in every 5 patients attended A+E with associated musculo – skeletal conditions, yet in the eyes of modern science its approach to the treatment has been centred around ‘advice’ on injury prevention based on assessment and exercise.

It is only recently that many medical practitioners have come to understand and appreciate the effectiveness of sports massage in injury prevention, the treatment of musculo - skeletal injury and its management to rehabilitation and the repair of damaged and scared tissues sustained through the injury.
